Registration
We have endeavored to put on an exciting conference over a 4-day period (11-14 December 2023, Monday – Thursday). Conference events include:
- Taxon-specific bird groups (e.g. Alaska Shorebird Group, Boreal Partners in Flight Group, ABOG, Raptor Group, Loon Group), will meet during the day on Monday. These meetings will be organized independent of the Alaska Bird Conference. Contact leaders of these groups for more information.
- Opening night reception Monday evening in the Hotel Captain Cook’s top floor Quarterdeck; cash bar and staggered appetizer times (5:30 to 9:00 pm) so you don’t have to rush in all at the same time, with live music from the “Flint Family Band”.
- Regular conference during the next three days will feature plenary speakers in the morning, followed by 20-minute talks throughout the day. Beverages will be provided all day along with both morning and afternoon snacks. No breakfast or lunch provided.
- Special event on Wednesday night at the Anchorage Museum where we will have a celebration of “Art and Conservation”, featuring Pete Marra and Gerrit Vyn as speakers and a plethora of artist showing their wares. Cash bar and appetizers available.
- Banquet on Thursday evening (6:00 to 11:00 pm) where we will enjoy fine food provided by The Hotel Captain Cook (choice of Beef or Vegetarian meal), followed by presentations for the best student poster and oral presentation, the Pete Isleib award, the Tom Fondell Memorial Student Travel award(s), and possibly (planning still in the works) honoring past ornithologists who were the forerunners of biological studies in Alaska. Finally, you can dance the night away while listening to the “The Woodshedders”.
